29th September 2018 - Crawley Grand Prix report
With Ross injured it was a 2 man Petersfield squad that headed to Crawley to battle the best players at the Grand prix. Both Chris and Tim were in bands 6 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon.
Chris appeared to have a friendly draw but was a little match rusty after a summer hectic with work. He took the best player to 5 sets but couldn't finish it so came to a halt in the group. Tim fared slightly better, losing to a tactical Domingo brother but beating Moses Lewis and an eager London Academy player to progress to the rounds. Tim was still struggling with his cold that hampered him at the Senior Tournament last week and despite winning the next match comfortably he had no energy for the next opponent, a very competent youngster who got to the final.
In the afternoon band 5 was tough for both players, Chris had 2 journeyman who both attacked well and despite some audience drama with an upset Mum causing Chris to pause the match, it was the end of the road. Tim beat the Hungarian Tibhor but lost to a band 6 finalist and then again in the decisive final game.
Overall a fun day but not the best results. Tim won 4, lost 4 and Chris got some good matchplay. We now move on to Bath after Christmas.

 28th July 2018 - Brian Adsett
Very sad news today that Brian Adsett has passed away following his second battle with cancer and a short illness. I have known Brian for 10 years and he has been an amazing servant to both the HDTTA League and the Fernhurst club for many more years than that. A gifted player and coach he ran and organised the HDTTA Junior League and Junior Tournaments together with the Summer League right up until a few weeks ago. His passion was the Junior players and he masterminded the Friday Junior sessions at Fernhurst bringing on many talented youngsters, supporting and encouraging them to progress into the Senior leagues and competitions. Our condolences go to Jaki his wife, his children and grandchildren. He will be sorely missed, rest in peace Brian.
Tony Smith, Chairman & General Secretary Petersfield Table Tennis Club.

17th May 2018 - Handicap Cup News
Neil Whitlock’s team "Three's a crowd" (Neil Whitlock/Ross Lingard/Chris Bates) played in the Final on Tuesday but were unfortunately unable to win. They were playing Ifold & Loxwood who have the talented Jamie Fox and they were unable to overcome the 230 point advantage they were giving away. They lost by 14.5 points which when considered over 36 individual games is a very tight result. They are pictured collecting the Runners Up trophy, presented by someone vaguely familiar. Well played regardless and congratulations to Ifold & Loxwood.
