About the club

The Club was formed in May 2015. During the last 6 years our growth and success has been amazing. Up until March 2020 we had an active and growing membership of 60+ players encompassing all ages and abilities. Following the pandemic, we currently have 36 fully paid up and registered members (August 2021).

The Club was formed to support and promote the playing of Table Tennis in Petersfield. We also aim to provide recreational and competitive play for players of all ages and abilities year-round. Many Table Tennis Clubs close during the summer months, but we remain open for approximately 45 Mondays each year.

Tony Smith the Chairman and General Secretary of the club has been involved with the sport for more than 50 years. He became a Licensed Level 2 TTE Coach in the 1980's and holds current DBS certification together with First Aid and Safeguarding certificates.

We also have three Level 1 TTE Coaches as members of the Club and numerous others who hold DBS clearance. We have a close association with The Petersfield School (TPS) and many of our junior members came to us through the school.

We operate from two sites:

  • The Petersfield School (TPS) Cranford Road, Petersfield is where we hold our Monday evening "Club" nights. We use the School Assembly Hall which is spacious with wooden flooring and high Ceilings. We usually have 5 tables available over three 60-minute sessions during the evening:
    • Early 6:30 - 7:30pm
    • Middle 7:30 - 8:30pm
    • Late 8:30 - 9:30pm.

Currently we are open at TPS every Monday evening throughout the year except for Bank Holidays.

We often also hold Coaching sessions, internal Tournaments and special events on a Thursday evening at TPS.

  • Petersfield Rugby Club, Penns Place, Petersfield is our "Match" venue. We hire the Clubhouse Bar area on Monday and Wednesday evenings during the "winter" months. These are normally our "Match" nights where we play league Matches, Competitions, Tournaments. The room accommodates two tables with dedicated lighting and a linoleum floor. Ceiling height is a little restricted.

A little history

About 30 years ago there were several successful Petersfield based clubs playing in the Haslemere League and they have all folded and disappeared for one reason or another. Many of the long standing Haslemere Tournament and Competition Trophies carry the "Petersfield" name and some date back to the 80s.

During the last six years we have revived and continued this tradition. A quick glance at the HDTTA Honours page will demonstrate this. We have quite quickly become a prominent Club in this League - indeed the largest Club (by members) - and several of our members serve on the HDTTA Management Committee.
